Odessa Bethea McCrae

CHARLOTTE, NC – Odessa Bethea McCrae, known as sister to her brother a sister was the daughter of Effers Bethea, Sr. and Theresa Godbolt Bethea. She was born May 13, 1939, in Latta, SC.  On Monday, June 7, 2021, Odessa passed away in her sleep at 5412 Autumn End Circle in Charlotte, NC from a long illness.  Odessa was a loving, caring mother, grandmother, and sister.

Odessa was preceded in death in death by her mother, Theresa Godbolt Bethea and father, Effers Bethea, Sr.; daughter, Patricia Evans; sons, Stevie Robert Evans and Ronald Evans; brothers, Curely Bethea and Aaron Leegrant Bethea; grandson, Daniel Steven Evans; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Odessa leaves to cherish her memories her children, Katherine Evans, Terry Odessa Evans, Robin Evans all of Raleigh, NC, Candice Evans, Michael Evans both of Fayetteville, NC, and Ricky Houston Evans, Jr. of Charlotte, NC; brother, Effer Bethea; sister, Mae Hazel Bethea of Latta, SC.

Services to Celebrate the Life of Odessa Bethea McCrae will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, June 12, 2021, in Celestine Memorial Chapel at Leitner Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.  A public viewing will be held from 1:00 to 5:00 P.M. on June 11, 2021, at Leitner Funeral Home. The care of Odessa and her family has been entrusted to the family of professionals at Leitner Funeral Home in Latta, SC.
